About our Girls Brigade

This year’s session started in September 2007 with 22 girls enrolling.
Susan B, Alison and Jackie have all been able to come back to lead the girls week by week and I am very thankful for their help! Thank you too to all of you who help out from time to time and for your prayers for us!

The explorers theme for this year is “Things”. We have been looking at tasty things, noisy things, spiky things, smelly things etc. and we are looking at different passages in the bible relating to all of these “things” as well as crafts, games, some new songs, etc!

The juniors are learning Sports skills, Body care, Feelings and a topic about People with special needs this year and already we have had some local people coming along to take part with the girls as well as a couple of past GB girls who will come to help the girls look at Body Care in the New Year,

We had a light party as an alternative to Halloween party in October which was great fun! See Susan for the photos!

In November we joined with the Boys Brigade on Remembrance Sunday in St John’s taking part in the service in different ways and making our enrolment vows.

Our first service to others this session has been to collect items for the Blythswood Shoe Box appeal and we filled 16 boxes which were collected for Christmas distribution.

If anyone is interested in finding out a bit more about Girls’ Brigade in St. John’s either to join in as a girl from P1 or S6 or to help out from time to time please speak to me either by catching me in church, phoning or contacting me through St John’s website.
