Kaos club News 21st Jan 07
On Thursday evening there was a meeting of the team to plan ahead. Because of the age-range of children in KAOS, two groups have now been formed, so that activites appropriate to the specific ages can be planned. So we now have "Splash" (5-8 yrs) and "Xtreme" (8-11yrs). The adults taking the two groups will be using a rota, which allows two adults per group and it runs two-weekly, so the children know who is likely to be taking their group each week, (although there may be changes because of circumstances)
About our Kaos Club
During the past year, KAOS members have fluctuated, and at the present time a core group of 10-12 per week, with an emphasis on church families attending. We have seen a few new children join us on a regular basis and links have been made between the Girls Brigade and Boys Brigade, with children joining us from both groups. We at present teach the children all together, with children varying from 5-13 years old, we may have to re-think the structure of the group in the near future.
We are at present using Scripture Unions SALT material which gives a clear teaching point each week, with ideas on how to prepare the lesson.
A typical KAOS morning would begin with “news” time – allowing the children to tell us what they have been doing during the past week. Followed by an introduction into the day’s theme – this may involve a game. Story time next – often responsive and interactive and followed by a time of application. The children would not be named as such without a game of dodgeball or like to end the morning, before joining the church.
Thanks to Rachel and Sharon for their commitment to the group and their new ideas of different games/songs and teaching aids.
Thanks also to those who have offered their help over the past year and continue to be part of the rota, we appreciate your time and support. Last thanks are to the many who pray for us as leaders and the children that Gods work will be fulfilled and all would grow in their faith.
